Answer:
Lol, interesting. The story i'm going to give is about Coraline, I summarized and stuff. Chapter 1 from the text Coraline, is very interesting. They moved into a house that got split up into two and her parents bought one side and the other is still vacant. Coraline was watching a TV commercial and got interested in the birds that hid as leaves and other stuff. But it ended so she went to her mom to ask her if she can do anything, her mom said she didn’t care as long she doesn’t make a mess. So, Coraline asked her dad if she can go outside, but her dad said ask your mom, but Coraline’s mom said no. Then Coraline’s dad suggested that she should take a paper and a pen and count how many blue things, windows, and doors they have. Coraline came across a door that didn't open, so she asked her mom about it and her mom said there was nothing there but a brick wall, and that they covered when the house was split into two. After that Coraline went to bed but heard weird noises and ignored them the first time and then weird noises came by again so she got up and started following the noises. Then she saw a small black thing and hoped it was not a spider because she felt extremely uncomfortable about it. But she still followed and it led her to the drawing room where the door that wouldn’t open had a brick behind it, so after she entered the room it was dark since she didn't turn on the lights. She then turned on the lights and saw nothing but noticed that the door was slightly opened and she could’ve sworn that her mom closed it. She ignored that fact and went back to sleep. (Teehee I know it's long :P pick out what you think is important.

Find the claim.
From On Being a Cripple / Nancy Mairs
First, the matter of semantics. I am a cripple. I choose this word to name me. I choose this word to name me. I choose from among several possibilities, the most common of which are "handicapped" and "disabled." I made the choice a number of years ago, without thinking, unaware of my motives for doing so. Even now, I’m not sure what those motives are, but I recognize that they are complex and not entirely flattering. People- crippled or not- wince at the word "cripple," as they do not "handicapped" or "disabled." Perhaps I want them to wince. I want them to see me as a tough customer, one to whom the fates/gods/viruses have not been kind, but who can face the brutal truth of her existence squarely. As a cripple, I swagger.
Answer:
"On Being a Cripple" by Nancy Mairs (1986)
The claim in Nancy's article or short story is, "I am a cripple."
Explanation:
Nancy's claim is the assertion about her physical condition. Nancy does not provide any evidence to support her affirmation. Unfortunately, there is no way for the reader to verify Nancy's reason for describing herself as a "cripple." Her claim remains subjective or a matter of the narrator's personal opinion. Nancy can even claim that her physical condition is a divine blessing.
Many imprecise descriptions are coined by society to label some people. Nancy feels that the truth or bluntness about a person's condition cannot lessen the pain nor denigrate the person. There are humorous meanings to be derived when described as a "cripple" without the use of meaningless metaphors.
