[Select all that apply] Which of the following are problems associated with hydraulic fracturing?

Natural gas contaminating drinking water.

Earthquakes in areas not near plate boundaries

Placing of sand into the ground in a location where it was not originally placed.

The ability to extract natural gas and oil from smaller reservoirs.

Answers

Answer 1

The actual practice of hydraulic fracturing (or “fracking”) is only a small part of the overall process of drilling, completing, and producing an oil and gas well.

Environmental issues that are specifically related to hydraulic fracturing include:

water availability

spills of chemicals at the surface

impacts of sand mining for use in the hydraulic fracturing process

surface water quality degradation from waste fluid disposal

groundwater quality degradation

induced seismicity from the injection of waste fluids into deep disposal wells

Any kind of oil and gas drilling can additionally cause:

reduced air quality

noise

night sky light pollution

landscape changes such as forest fragmentation

disruption to wildlife corridors and habitats

It is important to note that not all of these potential impacts occur at every site and many impacts can be avoided or mitigated with the proper practices.

Tors are mostly less than 5 meters (16 ft) high. Many hypotheses have been proposed to explain their origin and this remains a topic of discussion among geologists and geomorphologists, and physical geographers. It is considered likely that tors were created by geomorphic processes that differed widely in type and duration according to region

How can fish farms reduce over fishing?

Answers

Answer:

FARM FISHING: THE SOLUTION TO OVERFISHING?

03/02/2017 MARC ARENAS CAMPS 9 COMENTARIS

We have heard many times that fishing grounds are being depleted due to the overexploitation of species. It is also widely said that farm fishing could solve this problem. But, are farms the solution to overfishing?

FARM FISHING: THE SOLUTION TO OVERFISHING?

In general terms, the status of wild fish stocks has not improved. By 2013, 58.1% of fish stocks were fully exploited, 10.5% were under-exploited and 31.4% were overexploited (FAO, 2016). Thus, 30% of the populations suffered from overfishing.

This is due to the increasing consumption of fish. According to a report published by FAO, in 2014 each person ate on average about 20 kg of fish, twice as much as in 1960.

On the other hand, since the 1980s, wild catches have remained stable. However, the supply of fish for human consumption has increased considerably. So, if consumption has increased and fishing has remained stable, where does the rest of the fish come from?

The explanation for this fact is in aquaculture: in 2014, catch production was 93.4 million tonnes, while aquaculture production amounted to 73.8 million tonnes. In other words, 44% of the fish came from aquaculture.
