Read a paragraph from an essay supporting Truman’s decision to use the atomic bomb against Japan during World War II.

[1] Many people have argued that nothing could justify the president’s use of the atomic bomb because it killed so many innocent civilians. [2] Truman himself refused to drop a third atomic bomb on Japan because he was horrified by the death and devastation it had caused. [3] However, he never regretted his decision to use it in the first place. [4] Using the bomb brought an immediate end to a war that might have gone on for months or even years longer. [5] It is impossible to put a number on how many more deaths the continuing war might have caused, but there are indications. [6] Millions had already died in the Pacific theater. [7] Whenever US troops invaded an island, they knew the fight was to the death. How did the American government react to all the decolonization movements taking place worldwide?

Answers

Answer:

Going out on a limb here and assuming you're speaking about the end of WWII.

Explanation:

At the end of WWII, most of Europe was destroyed due to the war. The two main superpowers that emerged were Russia and the United States. There was a lot of discussion about dividing up Europe into colonies but the United States didn't want any part of that. Instead, General and later Secretary of State George Marshall devised what was later called the Marshall Plan.

Under the Marshall Plan, the United States gave over $12 billion to the European countries affected by WWII to help them reestablish their economies and rebuild their nations. This even included our enemies, such as Germany and Italy. The goal was that if they could rebuild and be influenced by captialism, then democracies might have a chance of spreading. These discussions were held at the Paris Accords and of course, Russia was against it. Russian leader Stalin tried to kill the Marshall Plan then when he realized that couldn't be done, he tried to take credit for some or even all of it's successes.

Back in the United States, our Congress which at the time was controlled by the Republicans, put forth a bill called the Economic Cooperation Act of 1948. President Truman signed the Act into law and the ECA was funded and implemented. To protect the integrity of the program, the money wasn't given directly to the participating countries. Instead, it was managed by local authorities who had to account for every single penny.

In addition to receiving help to rebuild their economy and their infrastructure, the participating European countries also received direct technical assistance from the United States to help bring new industries and businesses into Europe. All in all 17 countries took advantage of the program and were helped.

how does industrialization impact economic ideas like capitalism and socialism?

Answers

Answer:

The Industrial Revolution meant that poverty became concentrated in urban areas instead of the countryside. ... It led to contestation of laissez faire economics since it was associated with the emergence of that poverty. Socialist thinkers contested capitalism both in Europe and in the USA

To build on this, in the United Kingdom, Fredrick Ingles and Karl Marx saw the poverty that the poor were working in. This gave birth to a book called “The Communist Manifesto” this book explained an economic system where the people were benefiting equally.

Explanation:

Capitalism caused the Industrial Revolution because industrialization required significant work and investment from individuals and not necessarily the government. ... This investment from individuals, whose actions were guided by the profit motive, would not have been possible without the emergence of capitalism.

Allies benefit from Germany's decision to fight on two fronts as Germany would become weaker by having to divide its military resources between the fronts. Thus, option 'D' is the correct option.

Why did Germany have to fight a war on two fronts?

On two fronts, Germany had to wage a war. It sought to rapidly destroy France, which was a close friend of Russia so that it could focus on the stronger foe in the east.

France and Germany had a highly defended border. Germany attempted to attack France through northern Belgium. Although it battled valiantly, Belgium's army was unable to defeat the Germans. Soldiers from France and Great Britain were pushed back.

The Allied troops stopped the Germans when they arrived at the Marne River. About 40 kilometers before they reached Paris, the German attack ended. There, French and German soldiers engaged in a number of conflicts. Both sides had built trenches along the western front, which stretched from Belgium's coast to France, by 1915.

This question is missing the excerpt. I've found the complete question online. It is the following:

"My father," I replied, "prefers boys; he wishes I was one, and I intend to be as near like one as possible. I am going to ride on horseback and study Greek. Will you give me a Greek lesson now, doctor? I want to begin at once." "Yes, child," said he, throwing down his h.oe, "come into my library and we will begin without delay." Which best explains Rev. Simon Hos.ack’s reaction to Stanton’s feelings about behaving like a boy?

A. He understands Stanton’s frustration with her own capabilities, but he still believes she can succeed.

B. He knows that Stanton will be willing to help with the work in his garden in exchange for her lessons.

C. He knows that Stanton is a fast learner, and he wants to help her reach her goals as quickly as possible.

D. He understands Stanton’s frustration about society’s unequal treatment of women and girls.

Answer:

The option that best explains the reverend's reaction is:

D. He understands Stanton’s frustration about society’s unequal treatment of women and girls.

Explanation:

Elizabeth Cady Stanton is the main author of The Declaration of Sentiments, a document signed in 1848 at the first women's rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York.

During her childhood, Stanton faced the harsh reality of having a father whose attention she craved. However, since she was not a boy, she did not receive that attention. Stanton was determined to show her father she could do anything boys did, which is why she is asking for Rev. Simon's help. She wants to learn what boys learn. As we can see in the passage, the reverend agrees to teach her because he understands her frustration. Instead of rejecting her appeal, telling Stanton she should not try to break that mold society had forced onto her, Rev. Simon chooses to help.

Answer: D

Explanation: He understands Stanton’s frustration about society’s unequal treatment of women and girls.

Write about what your life would be like if you were a member of an ancient Chinese family.

Answers

My life would be very different if I lived in an ancient Chinese family.
For starters, I would be living with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, in one house! Even generations of family would all live under the same roof. If there were any boys/men in the house, they would continue to live with their family. This would mean that they would eventually take care of the people that helped take cared of them when they were younger. I would have probably been working on a small family farm. During the cold months, I would have worn a thick, padded jacket made of hemp. And in conclusion, family mattered most to the Chinese. Family would be the center of my life. I think, that I would have been happy with that if I was a member of an ancient Chinese family.
