Answer:

The Montgomery Bus Boycott proved that change could be achieved through peaceful means."

The Montgomery bus boycott was a political and social boycott that took place between 1955 and 1956 in Montgomery, Alabama, to oppose the city's policy of racial segregation. Many people were known to the movement, such as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks, and others. The move caused high deficits in Montgomery's public transportation system because a large percentage of people using public transportation stopped using it. The effort stretched from December 1, 1955 to December 20, 1956 and led to a decision by the United States Supreme Court stating the legal requirements of segregation on buses in the state of Alabama and the city of Montgomery unconstitutional

Answers

Answer:

The Industrial Revolution was a time of great progress. Large factories emerged that could mass produce goods at a low price. People flocked from their farms in the country to the cities to work in factories, mills, and mines. Despite such progress, life was not easy as a worker during the Industrial Revolution. Working conditions were poor and sometimes dangerous.

Long Days

Unlike today, workers during the Industrial Revolution were expected to work long hours or they would lose their jobs. Many workers had to work 12 hour days, six days a week. They didn't get time off or vacations. If they got sick or were injured on the job and missed work, they were often fired.

Dangerous Work

A lot of the jobs during the Industrial Revolution were dangerous. There weren't any government regulations to help protect workers. Workers sometimes had to work closely with powerful machines that had no safety features. It was not uncommon to lose a finger or a limb. Workers in mines were subject to tiny tunnels that could easily collapse and trap them underground.

Unsafe Facilities

A lot of the facilities where people worked were unsafe. Typically the lighting was bad making it difficult to see. Many factories and mines were filled with dust that not only made it difficult to breathe, but could cause diseases including cancer. Other places were unsafe fire hazards where they dealt with flammable chemicals or fireworks. The smallest spark could set off a blaze or explosion.

Child Labor

A lot of factories used child labor in unsafe conditions. Factories hired children because they worked for low wages. In some cases, they hired small children because they could get fit into places adults couldn't. Children were subjected to the same long work weeks and poor conditions as adults. Many children were killed or got sick working in factories.

Living Conditions

The living conditions in crowded cities weren't any better than the working conditions. As more and more people moved into the cities, large slums formed. These places were dirty and unsanitary. Entire families sometimes lived in a single room apartment. With people living so close, diseases spread rapidly and there was little medical care to help them get well.

New Government Regulations

In the late stages of the Industrial Revolution, workers began to organize into unions in order to fight for better and safer working conditions. The government also became involved. New regulations were imposed to shorten the work week and to make factories safer. Today, the government keeps a close eye on businesses to make sure that workers are safe.

Interesting Facts about Working Conditions During the Industrial Revolution

In 1860, the five story Pemberton Mill in Lawrence, Massachusetts collapsed killing an estimated 145 workers. The poorly constructed building had been packed to the upper floors with heavy machinery.

Factories were often very hot during the summer and freezing during the winter.

One of the first labor laws passed was the Factory Act of 1819 passed in Britain. It made it illegal to employ children under 9 years old. It was seldom enforced, however.

As workers organized, they began to go on strike (not work) in order to demand better working conditions and hours.

Some early laws actually made it illegal for workers to unionize.

The Spanish and English colonies were slightly alike in the poor and unfair treatment of indigenous people and substantially different in religion and economic base. A rubber ball is dropped from the top of a ladder. It bounces on the same spot on the ground several times, each time to a lesser height than the previous bounce, before coming to rest in place.
In one or two sentences, explain how the experiment shows the direction that gravity pulls an object, specifically showing that it does not pull an object parallel to the ground.

Answer:

Here to help! :)

Explanation:

Firstly you need to know what is gravity?

Explanation:

The size of the gravitational force is proportional to the masses of the objects and weakens as the distance between them increases. Both objects exert an equal attractive force on each other: a falling object is attracting the Earth with the same size force as the Earth is attracting it.

Now you need to know why a rubber bounce?

When a rubber ball hits something, it absorbs energy and releases energy really fast, Zheng said. ... When it hits something, it stops, and the kinetic energy is stored inside the ball as internal energy. Then it can quickly convert the internal energy back into kinetic energy which allows the ball to bounce back

Now you want  to know why does a rubber bounce lower each time?

The rubber slows down, deforms temporarily and shoots back up. The air in the ball acts like a spring—it gets compressed and expands again. During the collision, some of the rubber's's energy is converted into heat. As a consequence, the ball shoots up with less energy than it had when it reached Earth.

If you think this was helpful give me brainliest please! Have a great day.

Gravity does not pull the object to the ground, but pulls it towards the object with the greatest mass.

We can arrive at this answer because:

Gravity is a force that is related to mass and distance between objects. In that case, the more mass an object has, the more will be the "power" of gravity over it.The object with more mass, then, can attract the object with less mass towards it, due to gravity. In this case, a rubber ball has less mass than planet Earth. For this reason, we can say that the planet Earth, through gravity, can attract the rubber ball with great intensity.

Therefore, the rubber ball is not being pulled towards the ground, but rather towards the planet Earth.

I WILL GIVE 30 POINTS TO THOSE WHO ANSWER THIS QUESTION RIGHT. What are some myths and misconceptions about ancient/medieval Africa? How can we combat or change these myths?

Answers

Answer:(this is your answer for question 1)

1. Its always hot in Africa

-The truth is, that in so Saharan regions, Africa´s temperatures can go well below freezing. You’ll also often find snow in the Atlas Mountains of North Africa and atop Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak. Some of South Africa’s inland mountains see annual snowfall too.

2. Africa wasn’t civilized before European contact

-Carthage, for example, was a powerful commercial hub and advanced city in North Africa, with roots stretching back around 3,000 years. The civilization thrived for more than five centuries. Then there’s the great Kingdom of Kush, Ancient Egypt’s neighbor, which once flourished in what is now Sudan. And the medieval Mali Empire with its libraries, Islamic schools, and elaborate mosques.  Africa was home to several dozen great kingdoms spread throughout the continent – well before Europeans set foot on its shores.

3. Africa is dangerous for travelers

-Of course, Africa has its issues and concerns, just like any other continent. But it’s an incredibly diverse land, and much of it starkly contrasts the media’s portrayal. Many places in Africa are actually safe travel destinations such as, Splendid Seychelles or vast Namibian deserts, Rwanda, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Malawi, and Gambia are safer then the United Kingdom!

4. No one in Africa has access to modern technology

-Much of Africa’s population lives in cities and urban areas, where modern technology is abundant. And the continent is the world’s fastest-growing region in terms of mobile phone adoption. Almost ¾ of the population has a mobile phone, many of which are smartphones with Internet access. Almost 300 million Africans have access to the Internet, and several of Africa’s countries are making impressive strides in the renewable energy sector.

5. ‘African’ is a language

-¨Do you speak American?¨ The people of Africa speak over 2,000 languages. Among them are English, French, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese – a hangover from European colonization. One of the most commonly spoken languages in Africa is Swahili, yet less than 10% of the population speak it.

6. Europe is for learning, Africa is for adventure

- African countries may have developed in a different way to those in Europe, Asia, and Northern America but that does not make them backward. The truth about Africa is that each of its countries has a rich history that stretches back further than any ‘developed’ nation can claim.

7. Wild animals roam the streets

-Many Africans have despaired at this question and played up the misconception. Telling stories of how they travel to work on the back of their personal elephant. Of how people dropping their kids off at school on rhinos and hippos cause backups in the streets. And how they have to take special precautions to ensure that lions and crocodiles don’t drag them away during the night.

8. There are no cities, only unpaved villages

-Most people consider cities such as Nairobi, Windhoek, Maputo, Lusaka, Gaborone, Dakar, Cairo, and Algiers to be the exception and not the rule. This is one of the great misconceptions of Africa. While it is true that much of the continent is still rural, there are many great cities (as the ‘developed world’ know them) in Africa.

9. Everyone knows everyone else

-This misconception is closely related to the idea that Africa is one country. People around the world often ask South Africans traveling in Europe or the US whether they know cousin so-and-so who lives in Namibia. Or such-and-such who is a tour guide in Kenya. In a sea of 1.2 billion people, spread out over 30 million square kilometers, it’s not particularly likely. It’s akin to asking someone from Germany if they know your friend who lives in Lichtenstein.

10. Africa is one country

-People often go on holiday to ‘Africa’, completely oblivious to the fact that it’s a continent made up of 54 separate nations. Each nation has its own character, history, landmarks, attractions and way of life. Africa is vast. It’s larger than the USA, China, Japan, India, and the majority of Western and Eastern Europe combined. You can’t generalize Africa just as you can’t generalize Europe, Asia, or South America.

Explanation:(this is your answer for question 2)

In short, Africa is not a one-stop destination. It’s a vast, varied, and beautiful continent that’s as diverse as any other. The world still has much to learn about the ‘Dark Continent’, its people, and its place on the planet. This is shown in the African stereotypes we’ve explored in this article. Africa’s countries and their people would appreciate it if the rest of the world could keep all of these myths of Africa in mind. And please, don’t ask us about our pet elephants.

Hope this helps! It took me a while to do! I hope you have a great day my loves <3                                                   -Heiwa

what are some of the key differences between the house of representatives and the senate

Answers

Answer:

The House of Representatives and Senate are the two main legislative branches of the U.S.

The house of the representative is the lower chamber while the senate is the upper chamber

The senate has 100 voting members while the house of representatives has 435 seats.

Members of the house are elected for a term of two years, and the senate members are elected for a six-year term. The house seats are dependent on each state's population, whereas each state has two senators regardless of population.

The response of the house is faster while that of the senate is quite slow.

To qualify as a representative for the house, you must be 25 years at the time of election and have lived in the country for 7 years. To qualify for a senate seat you must be 30 at the time of election and have lived in the country for 9 years.

The role of the house is to initiate revenue base legislation while the senate is to approve foreign treaties, cabinet and judicial nominations.

The house facilitates the impeachment of an official. The impeachment is then sent to the Senate to vote on the removal of the official.

The history of the house originated from the Virginia plan while that of the senate originated from the New Jersey plan.

One long-lasting outcome of the wars for independence in Latin America was the establishment of independent nation-states. Prior to these wars, Latin America was predominantly under colonial rule by European powers such as Spain and Portugal. However, through years of armed conflict and revolutionary movements, Latin American countries successfully gained their independence.

This led to the formation of sovereign nations across the region, each with its own government, constitution, and national identity. Voyager revealed a banded cloud structure and a storm that was called the Great Dark Spot. Neptune's axis is tilted similar to Earth's. Neptune therefore exhibits seasonal changes. However, the seasons on Neptune last for decades, not months as on Earth. In fact, Neptune has only completed one orbit of the Sun since its discovery in 1843. It is remarkable that Neptune exhibits any evidence of seasonal change at all, given that the Sun, as viewed from the planet, is 900 times dimmer than it is from Earth. Still, Hubble, a deep space telescope, has been able to observe such changes.Hubble's near-infrared capabilities allow the telescope to observe high-altitude clouds on Neptune that are useful for tracking seasonal changes. In fact, Hubble images taken in the late 1990s showed that cloud bands on Neptune were getting wider and brighter were considered the rst observational evidence that the planet undergoes a change of seasons. In 2002, astronomers using Hubble noted that the abundance of high-altitude clouds increased the planet's brightness from observations made in the late 1990s. Astronomers consider this brightness increase a sign of seasonal change. Hubble studies show that Neptune has a nearly constant brightness at low latitudes (near the equator). This supports the idea that the observed changes are seasonal in nature, because seasonal effects would be minimal near the equator and most evident at high latitudes.Passage 2About the Hubble Space Telescopeby NASA and STScI (excerpt)Orbiting 360 miles above Earth, the Hubble Space Telescope is positioned high above the blurring effects of the atmosphere. From this vantage point, it captures images with 10 times the typical clarity of any ground-based telescope and views not only visible light, but also wavelengths1 of near-infrared and ultraviolet light that cannot reach Earth's surface. To operate from orbit, the observatory works like any other scientific or imaging spacecraft; it converts the optical data it collects into electrical signals that are transmitted back to Earth. It must also withstand the airless, high-radiation, and harsh thermal environment of space.Unlike most other spacecraft, however, Hubble was designed to be serviced periodically by astronauts and so was built with modular components that are astronaut-friendly to handle and replace. This design strategy has enabled it to operate longer than ordinary spacecraft and to benefit from the technological advancements of the last two decades. Astronauts have visited the telescope five times to upgrade its computers, mechanisms, and instruments. These servicing missions have kept the observatory at the forefront of discovery by providing it with increasingly sensitive and accurate components. The last of these servicing calls was in May 2009.1. the distance between one light wave from any one point to the next point of corresponding phase
