THE MATCH
There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.
Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by nature—by a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.
In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.

There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily.

Overall, savants have perceived a couple of special explanations behind the Vietnam War, including: the spread of communism during the Infection War, American control, and European government in Vietnam.
Generally in light of the fact that the Vietnamese expected to win more than the Americans. There were a few clarifications behind this. In the first place, the Americans were a going after power, and the Vietnamese were engaging on their own soil. Second, the Americans were not prepared to vow to win.
Finally, in January 1973, representatives of the US, North and South Vietnam, and the Vietcong assented to a concordance plan in Paris, completing the direct U.S. military relationship in the Vietnam War.

1. She is a good dancer.
2.They spoke in soft voices.
3.It was a heavy rain.

5.The angry dog barked.
Answer:

2.They spoke softly.
3. It rained heavily.
4. The man asked for food hungrily.
5. The dog barked angrily.
Explanation:
Adjectives give us more information about nouns, their characteristics, qualities, possessions etc.
In similar way, adverbs give us more details about verbs; they describe an action, how long it lasted, how it was performed etc.
We can transform an adjective to an adverb by adding the suffix -ly (soft - softly). In some cases, a spelling change will occur (heavy - heavily, angry - angrily).
However, some adjectives are irregular and do not follow this rule (good - well).
Hi, I need a 5 paragraph essay about whether or not Utah state legislators should change the age guidelines for drivers in Utah from sixteen to eighteen. the minimum amount of must be 4 sentences per paragraph. Thank you so much to whoever would like to do this!
Answer:alr i gotchu<3
Explanation
Drivers are often not getting enough training and not experianced enough and by changing the drivers age guidelines from sixteen to eighteen that could no longer be a problem. There is quite a big age difference between 16 and 18 so young drivers would be a lot more mature. Keeping teens safe is the primary argument for raising the driving age. With more than one-third of teenagers classified as overweight or obese, eliminating an opportunity for exercise would not be considered very often if they could hop in the car and drive. Raising the driving age would stop unhealthy multitasking habits. It could lower teen fatality rates.
Maturity really comes into place in this situation because The brain isn't fully developed at 18; that doesn't happen until a person's mid-20s, typically. However, emotional maturity increases with age and experience. While a 16-year-old may drive faster than is safe because her friends tease her for being slow, at 18, that same teen may have the maturity to consider consequences and resist peer pressure.
At sixteen parents are worrying about if their kid/kids are being safe while driving, especially on the freeway. The fatal crash rate per mile driven is nearly twice as high for 16-17 year-olds as it is for 18-19 year-olds. High speed thrills are often part of the teen driving experience. Although those thrills aren’t going to go away, there is more decision-making skills that have been practiced in the two years from 16 to 18. Keeping minors from getting behind the wheel unsupervised could prevent injury and death not only to these teen drivers but for their passengers and drivers in other cars.
With more than one-third of teenagers classified as overweight or obese, eliminating an opportunity for exercise would not be considered very often if they could hop in the car and drive. Now by making the driving age 18 that gives teens another two years of a source of exersise especially if they live not too far from school. Health concerns factor into driving age debates. Even if a teen can safely walk to a friend's house or school, it's unlikely he'll choose that option if he can hop in the car instead. There’s no denying that today’s kids are dealing with weight issues. 1 in 3 Americans, for example, are overweight right now and the percentage keeps increasing. By raising the driving age 2 years, older teens may be encouraged to exercise more and learn healthier habits since the car isn’t available to them.
Raising the driving age would stop unhealthy multitasking habits such as: texting while driving, answering calls while driving, ect. In the younger teen years, smartphones and other technology distractions can make driving very dangerous. At the age of 18, there have been adjustments made so that technology isn’t as important as driving when compared to the age of 16. there are too many distractions for younger drivers.
It could lower teen fatality rates. Many high schoolers don't have cars or even driver's licenses but do have a friend with wheels. Teens are most likely to have fatal crashes when they're driving with passengers. the risk of a fatal crash increases with each passenger. So if your child's lab partner or crush can't load the gang into his car for a fast-food run because he's not old enough to drive, you don't have to worry about her safety as a passenger in the car with him.
in conclusion raising the teen driving age to sixteen would help drivers be safe, causaus, and aware of their surroundings making sure that they are paying attention to whats infront of them instead of goofing around.
some of this was spelled inncorrectly so i hope you can figure that out but i really hope this helped<3:) also i didnt add anything about utah so im sorry but i hope this still works!

Which pair of words is often used to describe tone?
a. fiction/nonfiction
b. beautiful/pretty
c. easy/hard
d. formal/informal
Answer:
d. formal/informal
Explanation:
A formal/informal pair of words is often used to describe tone. The correct option is D. In academic or professional settings, a formal writing tone is common. This tone emphasizes thoroughness and directness while remaining respectful. It emphasizes facts and grammatical correctness and uses full words rather than contractions.
Why is an informal tone important? In writing, an informal tone is used when the writer takes a more casual and communicative approach, ignoring any technicality. This writing style is highly recommended for marketers looking to connect with a broad audience.
In comparison to the informal language, formal language is less personal. It is used in professional or academic writing, such as university assignments. Colloquialisms, contractions, and first-person pronouns such as 'I' or 'We' are not permitted in formal language. Informal language is less formal and more casual.
Thus, the ideal selection is option D.
