name the solid formed when ethene gas is compressed at high temperature

Answers

Answer 1

Explanation:

it is called polyethene

Answer 2

Polythene is the solid formed when ethene gas is compressed at high temperature.

What is polythene and how it is made?

Specifically used to keep food fresh or to keep items dry, polythene is a form of plastic that is produced into thin sheets or bags.

Each year, well over 80 million tonnes of poly(ethene), also known as polyethylene and polythene, are produced, making it the most significant plastic in the world. More than 60% of the ethene produced annually is due to this.

Three different processes are used to make HDPE(high density polythene). All of them function in the presence of an inorganic or Ziegler-Natta catalyst at relatively low pressures (10–80 atm). Between 350 and 420 K are the usual temperatures. In each of the three procedures, ethene and hydrogen are combined to regulate the polymer's chain length.

What is ethene gas?

Ethene (H2C=CH2) is a gaseous by-product of the long-chain hydrocarbons that are cracked to create highly sought-after goods like gasoline and aviation fuels.

When pure, ethylene (IUPAC name: ethene), a hydrocarbon, smells faintly "sweet and musky." It is a combustible gas. It is the most basic alkene (a hydrocarbon with carbon-carbon double bonds).

The production of ethylene, which is used extensively in the chemical industry, far outpaces that of any other organic compound globally. A large portion of this production is utilised to create polyethylene, a common plastic made of polymer chains of ethylene units in different chain lengths. In agriculture, ethylene, a crucial natural plant hormone, is employed to accelerate the ripening of fruits. Ethanol is ethylene's hydrate.

Part Two:
Respond to each question below in your own words and in complete sentences.

What difficulties did slaves face?

What alternatives to slavery do you think the colonists could have used to solve the labor shortage?

Answers

History 15 Point Q/A by Expert Hasqam2004

Slavery started in the colonies as a form of cheap hard labor for the newfound precious natural resources in the colonies such as cotton, tobacco, sugar, and coffee beans.

2. Slaves were brought not only from Western Africa, but also from the Caribbean on large ships. Slaves were packed together with little food and little space. Slaves had to travel on tight ships for months and because of this, many slaves died from starvation or disease. Some slaves just jumped off the boats to prevent themselves from being enslaved in order to maintain their self respect and dignity.

3. Slaves in the colonies did different jobs in the different regions in the colonies. Most slaves found their way to southern colonies in Virginia, South Carolina, and Texas. Slaves there picked cotton on large fields and picked sugar cane, and picked corn. Slaves in the middle colonies picked grains such as wheat. There weren’t many slaves in the Northern colonies, but the few that were in areas like Massachusetts, were usually housemaids cleaning and cooking.

4. Jobs were different in each region because the climate was different in each region. The Southern colonies tended to be more hot with blistering sunlight, so it makes sense that heat resistant resources such as cotton would be found there. Middle colonies had decent soil so wheat could be planted there. New England colonies had horrible soil, but lots of sea ports so shipbuilding and fishing was very popular there.

5. Slaves faced the world of difficulties. First off they weren’t paid anything at all, so finding food was difficult. Most slave owners provided their slaves bread and a little water, but most slaves had to scavenge the town for food to survive, and drink water from rivers. Slaves also were beaten often for not working hard enough or for fainting from extreme heat. Slaves were whipped to the point where their backs became scarred and bloody. Some slaves even died from beatings that were too hard. Lastly, slaves were often separated from their families. Men were often sold at higher prices all across the colonies so mothers and children were often separated from their husbands and fathers, which definitely affected children as many lost their fathers.

6. There weren’t many alternatives to slavery, because it was a very effective form of labor for the colonial economy. Slaves produced immeasurable amounts of natural resources which caused the Mother County, Britain, to become very wealthy.
An alternative in my eye would probably be an Industrial Revolution that happened 50-100 years earlier but that is very unlikely. Maybe slavery could not have been created in the colonies, but the repercussions of that would be that the life in the colonies of America would be completely different.

What four events that contributed to the causes of the American Revolution.

Answers

Answer: Many elements led to the War of Independence, but we will single out four important ones in this context.

Explanation:

The Boston Tea Party (November 16, 1773) was one of the events that preceded the War of Independence. Namely, the British government decided to reduce the tax on tea from the East India Company. The move implied a monopoly over the tea trade in North America. Such a move was seen as the tyranny and arbitrariness of the colonists. The people decided to board one of the colonial ships on the night of November 16 and throw about 45 tons of tea into the sea. The British authorities acted vigorously on this move. The colonial soldiers were given the authority to punish the rebels without being punished.

Trademark Act (March 1765)

England fought many wars in the period just before the outbreak of the American Revolutionary War. The wars exhausted the state treasury a lot, so they tried to improve the financial situation by imposing taxes in America. The trademark law provided a wide range of taxation of goods in the colonies as early as this was not the case. Until then, many goods, ie, their taxation, resulted from the colonial governments' policy.

Boston Massacre (March 1770)

One of the most common quarrels between a British soldier and a local apprentice led to Boston's bloodshed. A large number of colonists began to push the British soldiers who opened fire on the crowd. The result was three dead colonists. This event was used to spread propaganda against the British.

The Coercive Acts (March-June 1774)

The tea incident in Boston resulted in the Boston port's closure until the damage to tea, which at that moment amounted to about 18,000 dollars, was settled. By further provisions of the British Parliament after this event, many British officials in the colonies were protected by law from the colonial courts for committing certain crimes. If that happened, they could only be tried in English. The same law implied the placement of British soldiers in abandoned buildings. The colonists had to provide food for the army, which led to a lot of hardship.

What made the Dutch and English East India companies so profitable?
a. they partnered with indigenous populations
b. they had fair labor practices
c. they established trade monopolies
d. they sold products Europeans wanted

Answers

Answer: they established trade monopolies

Explanation:

The Dutch and English East India companies were so profitable because they established trade monopolies. The correct option is c.

They created trade monopolies, the Dutch East India Company (VOC) and the English East India Company (EIC) were both prosperous and successful.

Their respective governments gave these businesses exclusive permission to conduct business with certain areas of Asia, such as the Indian subcontinent and the spice-rich Indonesian archipelago. As a result, they held a monopoly on the trading of commodities like textiles, silk, tea, and other highly prized items like spices.

Thus, the ideal selection is option c.

What does To one who has faith , no explanation is necessary. To one without faith, no explanation is possible." mean?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

Take some of the hard to explain passages in the Bible (or some contradictions).

Those who have faith don't need to know what the passage means at all. They accept what is part of their faith as all that matters. If they don't understand something, they believe that if they leave it alone or pray about, eventually the meaning will become clear. And if it never does, then God will reveal it perhaps after death. It doesn't matter.

To someone without faith, the meaning will never be clear even if one is offered. They can't accept it because their understanding will not permit them to care about whatever it is that seems unclear. To them it does not matter because the premise that religion is built on is false. No answer can bridge that gap.

I hope I'm being fair to both sides. I have faith so if you get a better answer from those who do not, then their explanation is the one you should accept.

how are the populations of Japan, North Korea, and South Korea similar?

Answers

Answer: Japan consists of islands that lie along the Pacific Rim east of China and across the Sea of Japan from the Korean Peninsula. Most of the archipelago, which has more than three thousand islands, is just north of 30° latitude. Four islands make up most of the country: Shikoku, Kyushu, Hokkaido, and Honshu. The islands have tall mountains originating from volcanic activity. Many of the volcanoes are active, including the famous Mount Fuji. The physical area of all Japan’s islands is equivalent to about the size of the US state of Montana. The mountainous islands of Japan extend into two climate zones. All but the northern region of Japan has a type C climate. The island of Hokkaido in northern Japan has a type D climate and receives enough snow for downhill skiing. Japan hosted the Winter Olympics in 1998. Mt. Fuji, located just west of Tokyo, is a widely photographed mountain because of its symmetrical volcanic cone.

Explanation: Cities like Mexico City, São Paulo, and Bombay, which have vast slum communities, each claims to be the world’s largest city but lacks firm census data to verify its population. The largest metropolitan urban area in the world that can be verified is Tokyo, with a population of 26.7 million. The Tokyo metropolitan area is located in an extensive agricultural region called the Kanto Plain and includes the conurbation of Tokyo, Yokohama, and Kawasaki. The second-largest urban area in Japan is located in the Kansai District, and includes the cities of Kobe, Osaka, and Kyoto. Japan is a mountainous region, and most of its large cities are located in low-lying areas along the coast. Most of the population (67 percent) lives in urban areas such as Japan’s core area, an urbanized region from Tokyo to Nagasaki. The 2010 population of Japan was listed at about 126 million, less than half the size of the United States. It is ironic that the world’s largest metropolitan area is built on one of the worst places imaginable to build a city. Tokyo is located where three tectonic plates meet: the Eurasian Plate, the Philippine Plate, and the Pacific Plate. Earthquakes result when these plates shift, leading to possibly extensive damage and destruction. In 1923, a large earthquake struck the Tokyo area and killed an estimated 143,000 people. In 1995, an earthquake near Kobe killed about 5,500 people and injured another 26,000. The three-way split in China revealed that the Japanese colonizers were a major force in China even after the other European powers had halted their colonial activities. Japan’s relative location as an independent island country provided both quick access to their neighbors and also protection from them. By World War II, Japan’s economic and military power had expanded until they were dominating Asia’s Pacific Rim community. The Japanese military believed that they could invade the western coast of North America and eventually take control of the entire United States. Their attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, in 1941, was meant to be only a beginning. History has recorded the outcome. The United States rallied its people and resources to fight against the Japanese in World War II. The Soviet Union also turned to fight the Japanese empire. The end came after atomic bombs, one each, were dropped by the United States on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The terms of Japan’s surrender in 1945 stipulated that Japan had to give up claims on the Russian islands, Korea, Taiwan, China, and all the other places that they had previously controlled. Japan also lost the Kurile Islands—off its northern shores—to the Soviet Union. The islands have never been returned. Japan offered Russia an enormous amount of cash for them but the matter remains unresolved. The Kurile Island chain continues to be controlled by Russia. Japan also agreed not to have a military for offensive purposes. Japan was decimated during World War II, its infrastructure and economy destroyed.

(MC)Letter to a Citizen of Kentucky, an excerptExecutive Mansion, Washington,April 4, 1864.A. G. Hodges, Esq., Frankfort, Ky.My Dear Sir: You ask me to put in writing the substance of what I verbally stated the other day, in your presence, to Governor Bramlette and Senator Dixon. It was about as follows: I am naturally anti-slavery. If slavery is not wrong nothing is wrong. I cannot remember when I did not so think and feel; and yet I have never understood that the Presidency conferred upon me an unrestricted right to act officially in this judgment and feeling. It was in the oath I took that I would to the best of my ability preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. I could not take the office without taking the oath. Nor was it in my view that I might take the oath to get power, and break the oath in using the power. I understood, too, that in ordinary civil administration this oath even forbade me to practically indulge my primary abstract judgment on the moral question of slavery. I had publicly declared this many times and in many ways; and I aver that, to this day I have done no official act in mere deference to my abstract judgment and feeling on slavery. I did understand, however, that my oath to preserve the Constitution to the best of my ability imposed upon me the duty of preserving, by every indispensable means, that government, that nation, of which that Constitution was the organic law. Was it possible to lose the nation, and yet preserve the Constitution? By general law, life and limb must be protected; yet often a limb must be amputated to save a life, but a life is never wisely given to save a limb. I felt that measures, otherwise unconstitutional, might become lawful by becoming indispensable to the preservation of the Constitution through the preservation of the nation. Right or wrong, I assumed this ground, and now avow it. I could not feel that to the best of my ability I had even tried to preserve the Constitution, if, to save slavery, or any minor matter, I should permit the wreck of government, country, and Constitution altogether. When, early in the war, General Fremont attempted military emancipation, I forbade it, because I did not then think it an indispensable necessity. When, a little later, General Cameron, then Secretary of War, suggested the arming of the blacks, I objected, because I did not yet think it an indispensable necessity. When, still later, General Hunter attempted military emancipation, I forbade it, because I did not yet think the indispensable necessity had come. When, in March and May and July, 1862, I made earnest and successive appeals to the Border States to favor compensated emancipation, I believed the indispensable necessity for military emancipation and arming the blacks would come, unless averted by that measure. They declined the proposition; and I was, in my best judgment, driven to the alternative of either surrendering the Union, and with it the Constitution, or of laying strong hand upon the colored element.
