Monarch Butterflies are sometimes called “The king of the Butterflies”.
They are special butterflies. Monarchs make mass migration or seasonal movement each fall and spring. In the fall, Monarchs fly nearly 3,000 miles to México or California. They migrate to the south so they can be warm. Monarchs will spend six to eight months in the warmer climate. In the Spring, the Monarchs fly back to their northern Habitat. They fly back to the North so they can lay their eggs. They lay their eggs on milkweed plants. Milk weed plants only grow in the North. After the Eggs hatch, The Larvae eat the milkweed plant on which is placed. The milkweed plant is the only thing the Larvae can eat! The Monarch migration is very special.
