In act 3 , SCENE 3 Romeo's reaction parallels Juliet's reaction to the same news, that of Romeo's banishment. Juliet is more composed while Romeo is ,melodramatic and goes overboard.

Romeo was deeply saddened by the news, and exclaims that he would have preferred the former punishment  than be  banished from the place as banishment would mean living away from Juliet.

Friar is angry at Romeo's reaction to the news. He thinks that Romeo is losing his mind due to sadness and should be greatful that his sentence has been reduced and his way he could be alive.
